2016 Principal's Post June Edition

Areas for further development Parental / Community involvement

This is an area that I am extremely proud of, as we have witnessed a significant increase in parental involvement in our classrooms and fundraising. In my discussions with parents I also sense that our parents are trusting us more, they know if we say we will do something it will be done. As a Catholic Learning Community I would like to see all parents attend our welcome evenings, Spring Fair, parent evenings and conferences. I would also like to parents involved in the direction of our College (more to come in this area). Resilience Whilst the College addresses social media issues and bullying on a daily basis this continues to be an area of concern. Along with a significant increase in mental health issues the College will be embarking on a program to increase student connectedness with our College and each other. The recently released CYBERWISE video is an example of our continued attention to anti-bullying initiatives. It is our endeavour to provide a safe and secure environment for all students we have made progress, but we are striving to do more. Report I would give our College a B+. We have come along way, but still have along way to go. Evidence: • Significant improvement in HSC results in 2015 (25% increase in subject above State Average; 50% increase in Band 6s and 100% increase in Band 5s); • Significant improvement/growth in NAPLAN results in Year 3, 5 & 9 (we had a lots of new students into Year7 - difficult to make a comparison);

• Significant improvement in Attendance Rates • Waiting lists for Kindergarten and Year 7 in 2017

Thank you for your support – I look forward to our College continuing to further develop into a quality Catholic Learning Community.

For this to happen it will require staff, students and parents working as one.
